Feast of UB 2016 Volume 1: Jesus Took The Passover and Then Became The Passover

"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."  John 1:29

"And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!"  John 1:36

Ever wonder why Jesus is called the Lamb of God?

Lambs are sacrificial animals, they will walk straight up to the slaughter although every animal before them is being killed. Lambs are, by the way, the only animals that behave in such a way.

What About Jesus:
"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:" Isaiah 53:7

When did Jesus behave this way?
On the Passover!
Because our God is a God of knowledge (1 Samuel 2:3), He has set this thing up so that when He came in the flesh, He could partake of the Passover, and become the Passover.
How?
In the beginning Jesus created the days in such a manner that most people would not recognize today.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

And the evening and the morning were the third day.

And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the
were the sixth day." Genesis 1:1, 5, 7-8, 13, 19, 23, 31

God set the precedent in the beginning; A day is made up of the evening and the morning (in that order).  Therefore the day begins at night (sunset).  According to the Bible the evening comes before the morning.

Now, let's look at Christ:
"And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified."  Matthew 26:1-2

Jesus foretold that He was to be crucified during the Passover.

"Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.Matthew 26:17-19

Jesus disciples did NOT  prepare communion, they were NOT making ready the Last Supper, they made ready the PASSOVER!

And after their preparation, when did they begin to eat?

"Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve."  Matthew 26:20
After that the even came, they can begin the Passover.

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:26-29

Notice He didn't say I won't eat again, He said He won't drink of the fruit of the vine again (drink wine).  Immediately afterwards, Jesus prayed and then was betrayed.

"Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast."  Matthew 26:46-48

From this moment Jesus began behaving like a sheep led to the slaughter.

"And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,  Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel saying, in the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house.  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening."  Exodus 12:1,3,5-6

Notice who needs to kill the Lamb... the Whole assembly of the Congregation.

Did this happen to Jesus?

"Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death."  John 11:47-53

The entire nation, and God's children scattered abroad!

"And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and release him. (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) And they cried out all at once<red>, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them. But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.<CriMsON> And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required." Luke 23:13-24

Now in the daytime, the same day, Jesus is being sacrificed by all the people of Israel (Chief Priest and Pharasees).

"And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned."  Luke 23:44-48

May the Lord add a blessing to the celebration of His HIgh Sabbath!
