"But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly...when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly... for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him". (Matthew 6:1-8)
They seem to be simple instructions, the sad reality is however that in modern 'Christendom' there are many "ministers" that forget whom they/we should all be praying to. Jesus is our Saviour (Acts 2:21,28), and Our High Priest (Hebrews 2:14-18/4:14-15) and our Intercessor (Romans 8:33-35)!
The Father is 'The One True God' (John 17:1-3). This is because the Father was not made flesh, dewlt among men, died and after ressurection held "ALL" power again, He remained Almighty (Acts 17:29)! This is why Jesus, being in the 'beginning with God' was able to walk among men, and then pray to The Father in John Chapter 17.
"But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women" Acts 8:12.
And Again,
"But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they" (Acts 15:11).
There is power in the name of Jesus. I have mentioned before how I believe about 1/4 of the people healed by the false prophets on TV really do experience some degree of healing because there is Power in the name of Jesus.
Even demons shout out the name of Jesus and His purpose. "And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour" (Acts 16:18).
THE CONCLUSION OF THE MATTER: Make your prayers known to God.
Pray to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.
