A TEMPLE FOR THE WORSHIP OF A MAN?

"Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made"
(Isaiah 2:8)

In the Nation of India there is a very peculiar political trend taking place. Currently there is a man named Krishnamoorthy whom is building a temple in honour of political party president and ‘Tamil Nadu’ Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. According to the Times of India the Chief Minister describes himself as a atheist.

"The temple is almost in the finishing stages in five cents of land I own at Samireddipalli near Gudiyatham (Vellore district) at a cost of about Rs two lakh", District panchayat Councellor G. R. Krishnamoorthy, the man behind it, said.
Krishnamoorthy’s inspiration was drawn from seeing many downtrodden and poor families  recieve free insurance along with other welfare schemes. The majority of these where brought out by Krishnamoorthy.
"All those who benefited from this scheme suggested I construct a temple for Kalaingar (Karunanidhi), prompting me to undertake the task," he said.

"Though our leader is an atheist, we accept him as our 'god' as he has saved the lives of thousands of poor, not only from my region but also throughout the state through the free insurance scheme," says G. R. Krishnamoorthy.
some god... He cant even stop himself from getting old
"I treat him as a god. The good work of him, has inspired me especially 'Kalaingar Kappitu Thitam' (free insurance scheme for poor) to construct this temple," he said.

"For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens."
1 Chronicles 16:26

The temple has huge pillars and inside contains photographs of Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin and state Law Minister Durai Murugan. Also inside the temple, stands a two-and-a-half foot idol of "Kalaignar." After the floor-tiles have been laid the temple will be opened to the public.

When asked if the Chief Minister would oppose the project, Krishnamoorthy said, "It (temple) has been constructed for us to worship him. I don't think our thaliavar (leader) will oppose to it."
"Apart from this, a small park is also being set up near the temple for children", he said. According to Krishnamoorthy a library to showcase Karunanidhi's literary work in Tamil is also in the planning.
He said the temple, with the symbol of the rising sun (DMK party symbol), has an inscription saying “Kettal kudupathu Kadavul, ketkamale kudukkum Kadavul Thamizhina Thalaivar Kalaignar” (God will give only if you ask, but Kalaignar will give you without being asked).
"Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols. But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end."
(Isaiah 45:25-27)

May the Lord add a blessing to the knowledge of His Word...
