THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exodus 20:8-11
What happened? The date of the Sabbath was changed during the Council of Laodicea in 364 CE at the command of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Although he gave many privileges to Christian churches, at this time in 364 he was not a Christian. He was a pagan Roman emperor and he changed the day of worship in order to have a more unified Empire. Going to church on Sunday has also another flaw; God’s command is to set aside an entire day, not just 2 or 3 hours in the morning.
Remembering the Sabbath in the way it was originally intended is inconvenient in modern society (It Is However, Very Liberating), but very few are willing to admit they are ignoring the commandment. They go about trying to re-interpret the 4th Commandment because of culture and convenience.
LET IT BE KNOWN: The Apostle Paul warned us all: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, AFTER THE TRADITION OF MEN, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily… Let no man therefore judge you… in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ” (Colossians 2:8-17)
So what does the Sabbath Day show us good that is to come?
First let us consider time with the Word of God. 1 day in the eyes of God = 1,000 years to man. (Psalm 90:4/ 2Peter 3:8)
This Rest is also mentioned in the book of Revelation.
“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them… and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This IS the FIRST resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection… they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years” (Revelation 20:1-6)
These are some of the things that you should reflect on during your weekly rest. That one day the WHOLE EARTH will rest. Even Animals:
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain… and his rest shall be glorious (Isaiah 11:1-12).
“Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. The Lord GOD, which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him” (Isaiah 56:1-8).
“Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it” (Hebrews 4:1).
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God (v.9)
May the Lord add a blessing to reading and Doing of His holy Word.

Good Job Lock-smif,
ReplyDeleteI pretty much agree with the doctrine on this post. Society has gotten real laid back about observing the Sabbath. It looks like you have been doing your scripture homework over time...I am a great lover of the scriptures also and try not to "Lean on the arm of Man."
Thank you for following my blog, I will be following yours as well and look forward to what you have to say in the future.
